One-third of a person's life is spent in sleep. Choosing a good quilt can give you a stable and comfortable sleep. With the advancement of industry, the types of quilts have also developed from the earliest single cotton quilts to the current down quilts, wool quilts, silk quilts, camel down quilts, fiber quilts, etc.
Cotton quilts are the most traditional quilts in China and have always been loved by consumers.
1. How to choose a cotton quilt
1. When purchasing a quilt, check the label to see if the filling material is 100% cotton. The best textile safety categories on the label are Category A (products for infants and young children) and Category B (products in direct contact with the skin). If you can see the cotton (Xinjiang cotton has enough sunshine, the cotton fiber is more fluffy and comfortable), good quality cotton fiber is generally natural in color, white or milky white, and has uniform fluffiness. Pull the cotton with your hands. Good cotton has longer lint than velvet and is tough when pulled. Hold the cotton batting with your hands and then loosen it. If the cotton batt can quickly return to its original shape, it means that its fiber elasticity is good. Good cotton will smell like burning hair. If it produces pungent black smoke, it is a blended cotton containing chemical fibers. The more black smoke, the higher the chemical fiber content.
2. The heavier the quilt, the better the thermal insulation effect, but it will be heavier and not comfortable enough to use. Usually, single quilts generally use 5 pounds of cotton, and 6 pounds is the upper limit. It is recommended to use 3-4 pounds of cotton in spring and autumn, and 5-6 pounds in winter. Double quilts generally use 8 pounds of cotton. It is recommended to use 5-6 pounds of cotton in spring and autumn and 8-9 pounds in winter.
2. Advantages of quilts
①Cotton quilts have a good thermal insulation effect because the cotton fibers are slender, naturally curled, and have a central cavity in the cross-section, so the thermal insulation effect is excellent.
②The quilt has good hygroscopicity and will feel soft but not stiff when it comes into contact with human skin, making it more comfortable. It is also not prone to static electricity. (It is not recommended to choose cotton quilts in humid areas)
③Under the sunlight, the cotton fiber will recover its elasticity and elongate, and the fiber will store more heat energy.
④ The price of cotton quilts is relatively moderate, cheaper than down quilts, wool quilts, and silk quilts.
