Bedding knowledge

Bedding (referred to as bedding) is a must-have in people's lives. How to buy a set of high-quality and comfortable bedding is also a concern of people. Knowing some knowledge about bedding purchases is very helpful for identifying and purchasing high-quality bedding.

1. First, let's understand some basic concepts of bedding products.

Generally speaking, from the perspective of pattern processing technology, bedding products can be roughly divided into three categories: printing, embroidery, and jacquard. Printed bedding means that after the cloth is woven, the pattern is printed on it. The color of the printed product is bright and lively, and there are many types of patterns. Generally, it can be divided into reactive printing and dyeing, and pigment printing. Among them, reactive printing and dyeing means that during the dyeing and printing process, the active gene of the dye is combined with the fiber molecules, so that the dye and the fiber form a whole. The fabric has excellent dustproof performance, high cleanliness, and high color fastness, and the cost is higher than that of pigment printing and dyeing. Embroidered bedding means that after the cloth is woven, the pattern is displayed on the machine. Embroidered products have the characteristics of air permeability and good hygroscopicity. Jacquard bedding refers to the pattern on the fabric, which is woven with yarns of different colors. Compared with embroidery fabrics, the cost is higher and the process is more complicated, while the bedding is softer and more delicate, with better gloss, better hand feeling, better quality and breathability, and more noble. Bedding can also be divided into plain weave, twill weave, satin weave, and so on from the fabric structure. The fabric woven with plain weave (the warp and weft are interlaced with every other yarn) is called plain weave.

The product is characterized by many interweaving points, firm texture, scratchy, smooth surface, the same appearance effect on the front and back, the density of the plain weave fabric cannot be too high, it is lighter and thinner, better wear resistance, and better air permeability. The warp and weft yarns are interwoven at least once every two yarns, and the warp and weft interweaving points are added to change the structure of the woven fabric, which is collectively referred to as twill fabric. The characteristics of the product can be divided into positive and negative points. A complete tissue cycle has fewer interweaving points, longer floating lines, a soft hand feeling, higher tissue fabric density, thicker products, and stronger three-dimensional texture. The warp (or weft) floats are longer and have fewer interweaving points. Although they form oblique lines, they are not continuous, and the distance between them is regular and uniform. This fabric structure is called satin weave fabric. Satin products have a high density, so the fabric is thicker. Satin weave fabrics can be divided into positive and negative sides. In a complete weave cycle, there are the least interweaving points and the most extended floating lines. The surface of the fabric is almost entirely composed of warp or weft floating lines. The texture of the satin weave fabric is soft. The cloth surface is smooth and delicate, full of luster. The cost of the product is higher than that of similar plain weave and twill weave products.

2. The above is the general classification of bedding products. If you want to know the quality of a set of bedding products, you must understand some technical parameters of bedding products.

Important parameters to measure bedding

  1. The count is the standard of the thickness of the yarn. The length of 1 gram of yarn is called how many meters. For example, one gram of cotton can be made into 40 meters of yarn, it is 40 counts, and 1 gram of cotton can be made into 60 meters of yarn, it is 60 counts. The higher the yarn count, the finer the yarn, and the thinner the fabric weaved with such yarn, the softer and more comfortable the fabric is. However, cloth with a high count requires high-quality raw materials (cotton) and also requires relatively high requirements for spinning mills and weaving mills, so the cost of cloth is relatively high.
  2. The density index can not be ignored to measure the quality of the product. Density refers to the number of warp and weft yarns arranged in the unit length of the fabric. For example, the density is 173x124/inch, which means that within 1 inch (2.54 cm) of the fabric, there are 173 yarns arranged in the warp direction and 124 yarns arranged in the weft direction. Generally speaking, the greater the density, the higher the manufacturing technical requirements and costs.
  3. Shrinkage rate, barium value and other parameters of bedding products Shrinkage rate, barium value (indicators to measure the luster of fabrics), color fastness, and whiteness are some technical indicators used by the country to measure bedding products. The shrinkage rate of the fabric refers to the percentage of fabric shrinkage after washing or soaking in water. Generally speaking, the fabrics with the most considerable shrinkage rate are synthetic fibers and their blended fabrics, followed by wool fabrics and linen fabrics, and cotton fabrics are in the middle. For a good set of bedding products, these technical indicators must meet or exceed the technical indicators stipulated in the national standards.

3. How to choose bedding correctly

1. Pay attention to the materials used in the product, especially sheets, quilt covers, and pillowcases that are in direct contact with the body. It is best to choose natural pure cotton products because natural cotton fibers have a good affinity with human skin, good moisture absorption and breathability, safe, comfortable, and non-irritating.

2. Ask about the yarn count and density of the bedding, and compare the workmanship and comfort of getting out of bed.

3. Whether the product is environmentally friendly. The yarn count, density, and workmanship of the bedding determine the quality of the bedding, while the environmentally friendly production of the bedding determines the safety of the bedding. Bedding is inseparable from color, and it is also inseparable from dyes. Some companies do not pay enough attention to environmental protection or cannot strictly control the production process. Although the products look novel and gorgeous, they have a great impact on people's health. After all, people have been in contact with bedding for a long time, so we must pay enough attention to the environmental protection of bedding. ISO14001 environmental system certification is a strict environmental protection standard formulated by European and American countries, which can strictly guarantee the environmental protection of bedding products. It is recommended that you purchase bedding that has passed ISO14001 to ensure the environmental protection of the bedding.
