The finished quilts on the market are made of a variety of materials, from the most primitive cotton quilts to wool quilts, silk quilts, etc. that have become popular in recent years. How to choose a quilt made of good materials.
Silk quilts can be said to be the favorite in the finished quilt market now because their material is derived from natural materials. Silk is a purely natural animal fiber, so it has high hygroscopicity and breathability. And it is known as: "Queen of Fiber". Therefore, silk quilt can make the skin freely perspire and secrete, keep the skin clean, maintain the skin's moisture balance, and make people feel comfortable and comfortable. The hygroscopicity is 1.5 times that of pure cotton. It can be said to be the most green quilt. It is also for this reason that its cost is more expensive than ordinary finished quilts.
How to choose silk
Silk quilts have become more and more recognized in recent years, so the price of silk quilts on the market ranges from a few hundred yuan to several thousand yuan, and the situation often appears. We need to use the following methods to choose silk quilts.
(1) Is the quilt's label described in detail? Some say 100% silk quilt, which is problematic because both mulberry silk and tussah silk can be called silk quilts, so you must pay attention to such quilts. The label must be written clearly. 100% mulberry silk or 100% tussah silk. Since they are both silk, what is the difference between mulberry silk and tussah silk? Although tussah silk has some advantages that mulberry silk does not have, such as low price and good permeability, it is not suitable for making silk quilts because it is easy to fluff and pill, and will form "watermarks" when exposed to water. Silk quilts are easy to turn yellow over time, and even if they are used for a short time, the inner tube of the quilt is easy to deform. In addition, the more important point is that the cocoons of mulberry silk are white in nature, while the cocoons of tussah silk are mostly dark brown or gray-green. Therefore, in order to make profits, some merchants allow tussah silk to be sold at a better price. Fading and chemical bleaching are often done by adding "fluorescent whitening agents", which have been proven by modern science to be carcinogenic to the human body and harmful to health.
(2) Each silk quilt should have a sample opening, usually between 20-30 cm. If there are problems with silk quilts with openings below 20 cm, small manufacturers will use good silk to make sample openings to deceive consumers. Therefore, the bigger the opening, the better. High-quality mulberry silk should be milky white and slightly yellow. The surface of the silk should have a soft luster, not black, and not astringent, and the silk fibers should be very long. Each layer of silk is like a net and may be accompanied by a small amount. After pulling open the silk on the surface of the pupa shell, there is no floc-like broken silk inside. Tussah silk will appear white after bleaching, and this white color will lose its natural charm.

(3) Pull out a small part of the silk and burn it with a lighter to see if there is a smell of burnt protein, which is what we usually call a burnt smell. Generally, this can be achieved, because as long as it is silk, whether it is mulberry silkworm or tussah silkworm, it will have the same burnt smell. When silk burns, it curls up into a ball first and burns slowly. The burning smell is similar to that of burning wool, but it is lighter. Black smoke will appear when burning.
(4) First rub the silk at the sample mouth with your hands, and then rub it in other areas to see if the feeling is the same. The silk quilt should be smooth and thin, and it will feel very comfortable against our skin.
(5) After folding the silk quilt, press it hard. The rebound will be slow. These five methods can help you easily choose a high-quality silk quilt.
(6) The fabric of the silk quilt should be 100% cotton and quilted to prevent the silk from moving in the quilt cover and affecting the quilt shape.
When purchasing silk quilts, try to choose big brands. The raw materials of brand quilts are relatively safe, and the fillings should be more genuine. Although it is expensive, it is worth buying.
